I’ll get you yet you wascally WebWobot!
WebWobot is a very basic search engine, one that would probably not be mentioned except for one unique feature. Right on the Homepage you can see the link to Search Engine Forums. When I investigated those, I found the one pictured below; Alternative & Niche Engines! I left a comment and contacted the Moderator and checked the “Last post” dates on the other forums. It looks like they are useful and active, and they have quite a selection of forum topics, too.
Don’t bother with the Articles, there are only three of them! With some work on their Search results pages (too plain) and some new articles (too few), WebWobot could be a nice blend of a Search Engine and a Forum about Search Engines! Here’s their invitation:

Thanks for stopping by the site and forums. Indeed our articles are sorely lacking at the moment, but I’d rather urge folks to get involved in growing our articles section than not bothering with it. Let me tell you why: I suspect you missed out on our PageTrade banner, link and article exchange section (www.webwobot.com/pagetrade), and this does prompt me to perhaps give it more prominence on the front page. So while it is a general free service for members to find exchange partners with each other, we do also participate, hence having those articles posted by various of our PageTrade members. It does have a bit of a unique flavour to it, as it is a negotiation-based exchange system, rather than the more conventional automated straight trades. Here members can negotiate any kind of custom trade, and I think the beauty of it lies in the fact that it can be used also be used to successfully negotiate combination trades. For example, you might be wanting a backlink, and I an article. With PageTrade such a combination trade would be possible, which I haven’t yet seen possible on any other exchange programs I’ve seen out there.
So thank you for your honest review of the site (and forums). There is certainly much work to be done yet, and looking forward to when it no longer has to be done on a shoestring!
