Why I Love My Job: Iconfinder

Yep, it’s an icon search engine!
Here’s the story from the creator:
My name is Martin Leblanc and I’m the developer/designer of the Iconfinder search engine. After some startup problems the search engine is now ready. In late April the website (was discovered) resulting in massive traffic which the hosting solution wasn’t prepared for. I decided to get another host, develop a better search algorithm and design but didn’t have time because of exams.
Now it’s summer in Denmark (were I live) and it’s raining all the time, so I have plenty of time on my hands. I have added new features, such as the size-selector and search cloud. Soon you will be able to sign, write comments on icons and submit your own.
I have (also) launched the new tagging system. When you’re searching for the icons, the search algorithm matches on the tags that each icon has. If you click on the icon or the little “Tags” link you can edit these tags. When submitting new ones, they will instantly be saved and available for others.
To keep some control of these new tags I have made a voting system where everybody can vote for or against them. After 10 votes (I might change this) the tags are reversed to the previous stage if it doesn’t get enough “thumbs up”-votes.
Well done, Martin, welcome to our community of Alternative Search Engines!
