Every Saturday on AltSearchEngines, we continue our “Around the World in 80 Weeks” tour. Today we take a look at Italian search engines, with legwork provided by two of our International volunteers, Federico and Francesco.

Trovando.it is a search tool that saves you time and makes your Web searches easy. With trovando.it you only need to enter keywords once to access and compare results from over 250 search engines across ten categories by simply clicking on the search engine’s name.

Libero is powered by Arianna. The Arianna search engine is the most used by Italian Internet users who appreciate its speed and accuracy since 1996.
Siciliano.it displays the search results with the most votes:

godado is a player in the Italian keyword listing market through its Pay Per Rank / Pay Per Click search engine. Godado owns a key patent in the search engine world. They operate international advertising networks through the localised version of its search engine.
Sindice indexes the Semantic Web and can tell you which sources mention a resource URI, IFP, or keyword. Sindice does not answer triple queries. You can use Sindice in your application to find relevant RDF sources.

Your search about italian search engines is very good, above all for
the poor italian contribution in this sector…
Virgilio have a troubled history: was one the old and ancient and
famous italian portal. In the begin of 2007 the new ownership decide
its closing; the brand “Virgilio” survive only as search engine. But
the Virgilio’s fans launchs a Web protest and petition for revive the portal.
In these days the fans wins: Virgilio come back!
