What is Slifter? Slifter is a mobile search engine that helps you find products and promotions in your local stores with your cell phone/PDA.
Now before we go on with the usual, I told Alex that I loved the Slifter flash demo, so even though they have made improvements since then, I still encourage you to take a break and go check it out now.
Okay, as you saw, Slifter offers you local availability information, and not just online product listings. You can use Slifter to find products and promotions that are available at stores near where you live. You can get Slifter here, or just point your mobile browser to http://slifter.com. In order to use Slifter on your mobile you must have a web enabled phone with a data plan. (Carrier charges may apply.)
What stores are searchable on Slifter? Many of your favorite stores are searchable on Slifter including: Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys”R”Us and more. So, can I buy products through Slifter? No, Slifter is only for finding products and promotions online or at local stores.
What do I need to use Slifter on my mobile phone?
All you need is a mobile phone or PDA which is web-enabled and a data plan from your carrier. If you are unsure if you have a data plan contact your mobile phone carrier.
Is there a fee to use Slifter?
Regular Slifter is free, but there are GPS versions available as well. As with using any data services on your mobile phone, carrier charges may apply.
Will Slifter work on my iPhone?
Yep, Slifter 1.7 is now specifically optimized for the iPhone.
Will Slifter share my phone number? No, they will treat your privacy as I would want mine treated. They will not distribute your phone number to anyone, or send you any unsolicited messages.
How is Slifter Mobile different from Slifter.com? (See the little image over here)
