The AltSearchEngines Tabs
![]()
We’ve made some improvements to our tabs, and I would just like to use this post to explain them.
Important: we have shortened the archived posts so that you can find what you’re looking for faster.
First: Top 100. That’s where each monthly version of the Top 100 Alternative Search Engines reside back to our launch on June 1st. Before that, they are on Read/WriteWeb. Any posts related to the Top 100 are here also.
Next: News. Anything that is time related goes here. “Launches today,” “Just announced,” etc. Basically, if we stop what we’re doing to post something, that’s news!
Next: Reviews. When I show you a new search engine, it is filed under Reviews, but there are hundreds of reviews! In addition to our Site Search, we are working on a directory for 2008 to address this need.
Next: Debates. Every Tuesday night at AltSearchEngines we host a debate between two search engines. This is our most prized and educational feature, as it lets you see the differences between two search engines, directly from them.
Next: CEOs. Under this tab are two features. One, the “CEO Views” every Wednesday where we visit a search engine CEO to learn about their project. On Fridays, Natalya turns the spotlight onto the CEO him or herself for our “CEO Spotlight” interviews.
Next: Global. Saturdays we continue our trip, “Around the world in 80 weeks,” visiting different countries in search of new alternative search engines and more International friends.
Next: Verticals. This takes place on Mondays where we show you the “Top 10″ Job Search Engines, or Health Search, People Search, Video Search, Mobile Search, you get the idea. Any related posts go here as well.
Last: Job Board. We believe that it makes far more sense to post - or look for - a search-related job here than going to dozens of individual search engine job boards. I hope you’ll give it a “look-see.”
