Google do not need to handle vertical search, it should master a search over vertical searches, since we will have hundreds of thousands (or even more) of vertical search engines soon, and the main question will be - how to select an appropriate one. Yes, Google now is like the Ford Motor company, you could make Ferrari in search, but Google will in the top of business, and only the deadly mistakes of Google itself will shoot it down.
