Katapulco - Search Faster With Multiple Shortcuts
Shortcut-driven search home page Katapulco just launched a new feature called “Multiple Shortcuts,” which now allows users to query multiple search engines at once using only shortcuts such as “gi” for Google Images and “w” for Wikipedia – no clicking necessary. For example, to search “Mozart” on Flicker, Google Images and Yahoo Images, users can type “Mozart” and then “g gi yi” in the shortcut box. Katapulco includes shortcuts for more than 90 English search engines and 50+ in other languages.
Katapulco went live last February, allowing one shortcut at a time, but every day, some users would naturally try to enter multiple shortcuts, assuming this was possible, which triggered an error message. Not anymore! From now on, users can not only enter multiple shortcuts, they can use one of nine “super shortcuts” specially identified with a dot (such as “.v”) to search a whole category. For example, typing “oblivious” and “.f” will return results from a selection of dictionary and reference search engines.

User can type up to nine (9) shortcuts per search, so an Internet user who is very passionate about chicken can now go to Katapulco and type “chicken” and then “g l y w r i f d e,” which will bring up results from: Google, Live.com, Yahoo, Wikipedia, AllRecipes.com, IMDB, flicker, Dictionary.com and even eBay – who knows if someone isn’t currently auctioning frozen chicken for worldwide delivery!
